Zusammenfassung:A web (7) of paper or cardboard is fed upwards around cores (5,5'), to the side of two carrier rolls (2,3). A separating device (11) separates the web. A device holds the start of a web to be wound onto a new core (5') using a suction device (10). The start of the web is guided into a nip (4) between the first carrier roll (3) and the core (5') using a guiding device (12') movable along the outer surface of the first carrier roll. An independent claim is included for a method of changing a core in a winding apparatus.
