Zusammenfassung:Method for secure operation of a portable data carrier (1), which has a memory (4) in which at least a data unit and information controlling access to the data unit are stored. Access is only allowed to the information if the correct access data are presented. Prior to granting access to the data unit, a check is carried out to determine if the access information has been manipulated and or if manipulation took place during processing of the access information. An independent claim is made for a portable data carrier with a security function for checking for manipulation of access information prior to granting access to an information unit.
