Zusammenfassung: | A connector (4) is described for terminating a coaxial cable (2) typically comprising a centre conductor (44), an insulating material (46) surrounding the centre conductor (44), and an outer conductor (48) surrounding the insulating material (46). The connector (4) comprises a centre contact (6) having a soldering end (14) for soldering to an exposed end portion (50) of the centre conductor (44) of the coaxial cable (2). The soldering end (14) of the centre contact (6) has a contact surface (24) with an opening (22) formed therein for receiving and soldering to the exposed end portion (50) of the centre conductor (44). The contact surface (24) is in contact with an abutting face (52) of the insulating material (46) of the coaxial cable (2) when the exposed end portion (50) of the centre conductor (44) is inserted into the opening (22). Since the flow of the solder might be impeded by air trapped within the opening (22), at least one notch (30) is formed in the contact surface (24) to provide a passage between the opening (22) and the exterior of the centre contact (6) when the abutting face (52) of the insulating material (46) is in contact with the contact surface (24). The notch (30) allows the trapped air to escape so that the flow of the solder is not impeded. |
