POLYMERISABLE MIXTURES

A polymerizable mixture (P) containing:(A) a monomer or oligomer with two polymerizable functional groups selected from, (B) liquid crystal monomer or oligomer with a mesogenic group of aromatic double ring structure and a polymerizable functional group, (C) monomers C with a mesogenic group of aromatic double ring structure and containing no groups which can react with the polymerizable functional groups of monomer or oligomers A and B is new. A polymerizable mixture (P) containing:(A) a monomer or oligomer with at least two polymerizable functional groups selected from:(meth)acrylate ester-, epoxy-, and vinylether groups, (B) liquid crystal monomer or oligomer with at least one mesogenic group of aromatic double ring structure and a polymerizable functional group selected from (meth)acrylate ester, epoxy- and vinylether groups, (C) 1-50 wt.% on the polymerizable mixture of monomers (C) with at least one mesogenic groups of aromatic double ring structure and containing no groups which can react with the polymerizable functional groups of monomers or oligomers A and B. Independent claims are included for: (1) an optically anisotropic polymer (F) obtainable from the polymerizable mixtures (P); (2) a process for preparation of polymer F in which polymerizable mixtures P are applied to a substrate, oriented and finally fixed by polymerization.
