A media data switch request receiving unit (101) of a media data reproducing apparatus (100) receives a media data switch request operation from a user. A preference score counting unit (103) counts the preference score voting operations received by a preference score vote receiving unit (102), and the result is stored in a preference score result storing unit (107). A preference score limit setting unit (106) sets an upper or lower limit of the preference score. A switch destination media data determining unit (104) determines media data as a switch destination from media data that is being reproduced, based on the result of preference score counting stored in the preference score result storing unit (107). The determined switch destination media data is output to output unit (105), using reception of a switch request by the media data switch request receiving unit (101) as a trigger.
