Zusammenfassung: | In a process to glaze a moving web of paper, the paper is first over-dried to no more that 4% moisture, and then wound onto a reel and held in intermediate storage for 20 minutes or more, prior to unwinding from the reel. Prior to subsequent passage through a calendar nip, the paper is then moistened to a value between 8 to 12 %. The moistening process is effected between 0.3 and 0.6 seconds prior to passage through the nip. The moistening process is effected by steam jets and compressed air directed at both sides of the web. |
