Zusammenfassung:	A method and apparatus for using at least one signal quality parameter in an application. A target device (T) makes observations (OS) of at least one signal quality parameter in a wireless communication environment (RN). Because there are gross differences between different target devices' observations, there are one or more device models (DM) that compensate for the differences. A selection logic (SL) selects an optimal device model (DM1, DM2, ...) for each target device (T1 - T3). The observations made by the target device (T) are processed with the selected device model (DM) and applied to an application, such as a positioning application (LCM) or network planning.
