System and method for mobile information discovery

A system and a method of mobile information discovery are provided in which a mobile device (100) is used which has a display means (102) and an input means (104). A server (202) manages an information request (106) sent from the mobile device (100). The information request (106) is input once into the mobile device (100) and is capable of being sent singly or in parallel to a choice of multiple information discovery channels (108, 110, 112) managed by the server (202). The multiple information discovery channels (108, 110, 112) can include search means, messaging means and discussion means. The server (202) includes storage means (209) for the results of the information request (106) and means for returning the results to the mobile device (100). The mobile device (100) has connection means for connection to the server (202) wherein the connection means supports a persistent connection to a network.
