Zusammenfassung:	The device has a first conveyor device (5) moving at a constant or cyclically varying speed (v 1) and a second conveyor device (6) arranged between the first conveyor device and a front edge abutment (3) of the processing machine. The second conveyor device is formed as an endless belt (8) and takes up the foremost metal sheet (4') from the first conveyor device at a slower speed (v 2). The second conveyor device is formed as an endless belt (8) and takes up the foremost metal sheet (4') from the first conveyor device at a slower speed (v 2) and slides the metal sheet on a base (27) or output to a unit that guides the metal sheet to rest against the front edge abutment. Alternatively, the belt may decelerate the metal sheet to guide it against the front edge abutment. An independent claim is included for a method for using the device.
