Zusammenfassung:	An inverted portal drive axle (52) includes an off-center driving input (60) that is coupled to first and second axle shafts (62,64). The first axle shaft (62) drives a first gear box (68) that is coupled to a first wheel assembly (56a). The second axle shaft (64) extends underneath a vehicle floor (66) and drives a second gear box (68) that is coupled to a second wheel assembly (56b). An axle housing (58) extends between the first and second gear boxes (68). The second axle shaft (64) includes an exposed central portion (86) that is positioned directly between the vehicle floor (66) and the axle housing. Seal assemblies seal (88,90) first and second ends of the second axle shaft (64) to the axle housing (58).
