Zusammenfassung:	The device has at least one elongated transparent body (12,14) and at least one light emitting diode (16,18) arranged at or near an end surface of the body to couple light from the LED into the body. A first part surface of the body surface is shaped to scatter and/or to refract and/or reflect the light fed into the body towards a second part surface to exit the body. The LED is in good thermal contact with a conducting plate (20,22) on its side remote from the body and the first part surface extends along it to at least partly cover it : An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a transparent body for an illumination device.
