Zusammenfassung:	A piece of equipment 10 such as a handrail is secured to the superstructure 16 of a vehicle by means of a fastening device 12 comprising a tension rod 20 with threaded ends 24, 28 that have opposed hands of thread, received inside a spacer sleeve 40. Both ends of the rod are screwed into nuts 56, 64 abutting on back walls of the superstructure and of the handrail. Once the components have been moved into position, the tension rod 20 is simultaneously screwed into both nuts by means of a mounting tool inserted into a radial aperture 48 of the spacer sleeve 40. Tension stress is applied to the rod 20, while the spacer sleeve 40 is compressed between the superstructure 16 and the piece of equipment 10.
