Zusammenfassung: | A honeycomb structure 1 having an outer wall 7, partition walls 2 disposed inside the outer wall, and a plurality of cells 3 partitioned from one another by the partition wall 2 and extending in the axial direction, each cell having a generally rectangular cross-section shape in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction, a method manufacturing the same, and an exhaust emission control system comprising the same are disclosed. The honeycomb structure 1 is characterized in that the honeycomb structure 1 is provided with a reinforced part 72 on a part of the outer wall 7; the reinforced part 72 in the cross section perpendicular to the axial direction of the honeycomb structure 1 lies at least in the range from the point located at 40 DEG on the outer wall to the point located at 50 DEG on the outer wall and within the range from the point located at 30 DEG on the outer wall to the point located at 60 DEG on the outer wall, with respect to the longitudinal direction of the partition wall 2a or 2b about a sectional center 9 of the honeycomb structure; and a mean thickness of the reinforced part 72 in the cross-section in the direction of the sectional center 9 is in the range of 1 to 10 mm. A honeycomb structure which is excellent in mechanical strength and low in pressure loss, a method of manufacturing the same, and an exhaust emission control system comprising the honeycomb structure are provided. |
