Zusammenfassung:	The driver's cab (1) on a HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle 10) has frangible mountings (1.1,1.2) on its underside attached to the chassis frame (3). A cable (5.2) is attached (8.2) to the front or bottom of the cab. The cable passes over a pulley (6) on the front of the chassis frame and is connected (7.2) to a tension spring (5.1). If the cab impacts on a vehicle (9) in front, it is driven backwards on the chassis in a controlled fashion to reduce the shock loading on the driver. Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Sicherheitssystem für Lastkraftwagen (10), bei dem die durch einen Aufprall generierte Rückwärtsbewegung eines Führerhauses (1) zur Energieaufnahme genutzt wird. Hierzu ist das Führerhaus (1) über ein Dämpfungsmittel (5) mit einem Fahrzeugrahmen (3) derart verbunden, dass dieses bei der Rückwärtsbewegung des Führerhauses (1) Verformungsenergie aufnehmen kann.
