The housing sections are joined together by laser welding. Filtering unit comprises at least two housing sections (11,13) with at least one inlet and one outlet. The inlet and outlet (14) are separated by a filter fleece material. The housing sections are joined together by laser welding. The sections are transparent to the laser, while the filter medium (15) absorbs laser light (20). The outer edge of the filter medium is located between the housing sections. The filter medium is a polymer fleece soaked with phenol resin. The housing sections are made of a thermoplastic. The two sections are joined by placing the filter material on one section, placing the second section on top, applying laser light, melting the connection zone, penetrating the filter medium with the melt (21,22) and then cooling.
