The invention concerns an assembly of specialized operational units with an acquisition module (20), a multimedia database (101), indexing (121) and search (122) agents capable of being broken down into sub-agents, an agent (123) dedicated to management of data concerning the structure of documents, a module (200) for analyzing and structuring components of the documents, a user interface (80), with document indexing (30) and search (40) interfaces, a module (70) for creating a multimedia database, and a log-on procedure control module (71). The management system further comprises an assembly of specialized functional units with an agent (301) for arranging different units of the system, agents for controlling document indexing (302) and search (303) and an identifier manager (60). A platform (10) provides interconnection and intercommunication of the specialized operational and functional units.
