Zusammenfassung:The method involves detecting and evaluating at least one physical parameter indicative of the current length of the actuator(s) (P1 to P4). A check is made to determine if the parameter exceeds or falls below a threshold, and the actuator is driven at rest based on this test using a voltage to change the length of the actuator so that the parameter does not fall below or above the threshold. The voltage is switched off as soon as the length of the actuator has reached a predetermined length, or after a predetermined length of time. Independent claims are included for (1) an apparatus for driving a piezoelectric actuator; (2) an internal combustion engine. Verfahren und Anordnung zum Ansteuern eines piezoelektrischen Aktors (P), die ein Ansteuern des piezoelektrischen Aktors (P) mit einer negativen Spannung (Up) erlauben, falls der Aktor (P)aufgrund von äußeren Einflüssen (T) seine definierte Ausgangslage verlässt.
