Zusammenfassung:	The operating method is used for a communications system (KS) having a number of gatekeepers (G-A,G-B,G-C) and a number of communications terminals (KE1,KE2,KE3) linked via a communications network (IP-N) and has each communications terminal provided with stored addresses for a home gatekeeper and an alternative gatekeeper, each of these gatekeepers storing a communications terminal profile (PAsyl), for allowing a communication link to be established via the alternate gatekeeper upon failure of the home gatekeeper. An Independent claim for a mobile communications system is also included.
