Zusammenfassung:	The device has a tensioning roller that interacts with the drive belt on a pivotable tensioner arm joined to an end section of a damped torsion rod spring joined to the engine at the other end via a housing. The device is mounted on an engine side wall via an elongated housing with minimal dimensions and the spring is formed essentially according to the length of the housing, whereby a separate damper is arranged between the housing and spring. The device has a tensioning roller (8) that interacts with the drive belt (3') mounted on a pivotable tensioner arm (9) joined to an end section of a damped torsion rod spring (10) joined to the engine (1) at the other end via a housing (11). The tensioner is mounted on a longitudinal side wall (4,4') of the engine via an elongated housing with minimized external dimensions and the torsion rod spring is formed essentially according to the length of the housing, whereby a separate damper (12) is arranged between the housing and spring
