Zusammenfassung: | The end piece for an underwater drag antenna, to exert a drag effect and keep the antenna taut, has a number of shaped rotating bodies (12) secured to a cable (11) without sliding, at a gap (d) from each other. As the antenna cable is dragged through the water, the bodies give a flow resistance against the direction of movement. The end piece for an underwater drag antenna, to exert a drag effect and keep the antenna taut, has a number of shaped rotating bodies (12) secured to a cable (11) without sliding, at a gap (d) from each other. As the antenna cable is dragged through the water, the bodies give a flow resistance against the direction of movement. The gaps between the bodies are selected so that, on exceeding a given drag speed, each body is within the flow shadow of the preceding body and the total rise in the flow resistance is less than quadratic with the drag speed increase. Each body is composed of a funnel section (13) and a closure cone (14). |
