Zusammenfassung:	The method involves determining a lowest all catch voltage at which all ink drops deflects into catch. The catch voltage value is stored and is accessible to a controller unit of a continuous inkjet printer. The stored value defines a charge potential and is applied as a charge plate voltage on initially starting up the printer. The plate voltage is changed from the charge potential to an operating voltage for printing. An independent claim is also included for a startup system.
