Hydrostatic pump assembly having symmetrical endcap

A hydrostatic pump assembly (20) having a casing (22) which encloses a pumping mechanism, and including a housing (24), and an endcap (26) attached to the housing (24). The endcap (26) has at least one lateral exterior surface, and a first system fluid passage (80) having a pair of system ports (50, 56) located in the endcap lateral exterior surface, and a second system fluid passage (82) having a pair of system ports (52, 58) located in the endcap lateral exterior surface, each of the first (80) and second (82) system fluid passages being in fluid communication with the pumping mechanism. In one embodiment, the pair of system ports (50, 56) of the first system fluid passage (80) are located opposite each other in the endcap lateral exterior surface. The pair of system ports (52, 58) of the second system fluid passage (82) may also be located opposite each other in the endcap lateral exterior surface.
