APPARATUS FOR READING FINGERPRINTS

The invention relates to an apparatus for reading fingerprints, comprising at least two sensor surfaces (2, 3), for determining the surface structure of a finger (14) in contact with the sensor surface and thus moving over the sensor surfaces (2 and 3), whereby the width of the sensor surfaces is substantially larger than the dimension thereof in the direction of movement (13) of the finger (14). An analytical device (6) is provided, which carries out a determination of the speed of movement of the finger (14) from the recorded finger sections on both sensor surfaces (2, 3). From the finger sections temporarily stored in a memory (5) and the movement function of the finger, an undistorted image of the finger (14) can be generated without the need for an evaluation of the overlapping of finger sections.
