Zusammenfassung: | To neutralize the acid in books, a processing chamber (1) takes the books half-opened on their spines to give free-projecting pages (6) in a fan. The pages are initially flushed with a water droplets/air mixture (11) in an underpressure, and then blown with a mixture (12) of air and an active substance in an overpressure. The water droplet/air mixture is heated to a maximum of 50 degrees C and preferably a maximum of 40 degrees C. The overpressure in the chamber, during blowing, is at least 1500 mbar and preferably at least 2000 mbar. The books are passed to a chamber (14) to dwell in a controlled atmosphere to cure the active substances. On removal, the pages have a pH value of ≤ 7.5. The active substance is preferably MgO powder. |
