Zusammenfassung:Sodium ion absorption inhibitors comprise metal salts (excluding sodium) of cellulose derivatives (I). Sodium ion absorption inhibitors comprise metal salts (excluding sodium) of cellulose derivatives of formula R-O-A (I). R : cellulose derivative; A : functional group which exchanges cations. ACTIVITY : Hypotensive; cytostatic; cerebroprotective; nephrotropic; osteopathic. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Sodium-Antagonist. Wistar rats fed 20 g chow containing 2% calcium sulfate exchanged cellulose reduced urine sodium levels from 89.6 mg/day to 40.3 mg/day and increased fecal sodium levels from 0.2 mg/day to 10.4 mg/day.
