Chemical milling of the blades of a gas turbine engine
A method for chemical milling of a gas turbine engine blisk (10) having a hub (14) and a plurality of blades (18) made of metal for the purpose of changing the dimensional characteristics (i.e., chord (46) and/or thickness (50)) of one or more of these blades (18). At least one blade (18) of the bli...

Zusammenfassung: | A method for chemical milling of a gas turbine engine blisk (10) having a hub (14) and a plurality of blades (18) made of metal for the purpose of changing the dimensional characteristics (i.e., chord (46) and/or thickness (50)) of one or more of these blades (18). At least one blade (18) of the blisk (10) is treated with a chemical etchant of the metal that the blade (18) is made of for a period of time sufficient to change at least one of the chord (46) and thickness (50) of the blade(s) (18). In a preferred aspect of this method, at least one of the blades (18) of a rotationally imbalanced blisk (10) is treated with the chemical etchant for a period of time sufficient to change the chord (46) and/or thickness (50) of these blades (18) so that the blisk (10) is rotationally balanced. |
