Zusammenfassung:	Disclosed is a control device for a storage catalytic converter in a motor vehicle which is used to control and monitor the cyclic cleaning process. The control device (1) is connected to a navigation system (3) in which route-related information is stored. Before the cleaning process starts, the control device (1) verifies, on the basis of known route information, at what time and place a cleaning of the storage catalytic converter (8) can be carried out. The verification is based on environmental restrictions which seek to avoid pollution, for example within a city or a spa area or in zones with driving limitations (e.g. because of a smog or ozone alarm). The cleaning process is effected manually or automatically.
