Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a fastening element for linking a upholstery cover (10, 10'), especially the seat cover of a motor vehicle seat, with a foamed upholstery element (14). Said fastening element is provided with a clip element (2, 2a) that extends with holding sections (6, 6') across a thickened face edge area (13) of a profiled strip (11) or the like to which the upholstery cover (10, 10') is fastened. A mesh-type structure, tissue or the like (3) is fastened to the clip element (2, 2a) and projects from said clip element (2, 2a), the fastening element (1, 1a) being retained by said structure in the foamed upholstery element (14).
