Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a multifunction operating element (1), especially for selecting functional groups and individual functions. The inventive element is provided with at least two degrees of freedom of motion. At least the movement along the first degree of freedom is configured in a bi-directional manner. Said movement allows for a selection. An enter function can be triggered by means of a movement along the second degree of freedom. The operating element (1) is embodied as a cylinder (4) which rotates around the longitudinal axle thereof in a bi-directional manner and can be moved in an elastic manner and in the vertical direction in relation to the longitudinal axle (5).
