Process for the mono alkylation of a hydrocarbon substrate containing aromatic hydrocarbon compounds comprising contacting the aromatic substrate with an alkylating agent consisting of a mixture of olefinic compounds and polyalkylated aromatic compounds in presence of a fluorinated sulphonic acid.
