Novel p-diaminobenzene derivatives are of formula (I): [Image] R1-R71-6C alkyl, 1-4C hydroxyalkyl, 2-4C dihydroxyalkyl or 1-4C alkoxy-1-4C alkyl, or two adjacent groups can form a 4-8 membered ring, provided that at least 2 are H; R8H or 1-4C alkyl; and R9 and R10H, OH, 1-4C (hydroxy)alkyl, aminoalkyl or alkoxy, amino or 1-2C alkylamino. An independent claim is included for an oxidative dyeing composition for keratinic fibers comprising compound (I) as the developer in a developer-coupler combination.
