Zusammenfassung:	The present invention deals with a novel class of (cryo)protective agents which can be used in combination with a permeating (cryo)protectant to protect living cells or tissues during the cryopreservation process and which replaces advantageously the use of animal serum or animal derived proteins. More specific, the present invention provides solutions for the preservation of cells, tissues and embryos at low temperatures comprising plant-derived peptides as protecting agent. The invention also provides methods for preparing these solutions. The invention further provides methods for the preservation of cells, tissues and embryos.
