Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a drive for a lifting device, preferably for driving an elevator, in which a drive motor (1) is inserted into a stator housing (7), said housing comprising fixing means for fixing the drive for the lifting device, in such a manner that the drive motor (1) is located inside said stator housing. A brake (11) which encircles the drive motor in a bell-shaped manner is located between a reducing gear, said reducing gear being configured as a double planetary gear, and the drive motor (1).
