Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method for the thermal coating of a surface of an interior space, notably cylinder contact surfaces of a cylinder crankcase of an internal combustion engine, using a moving flame which is generated by a burner and flanked by a noncombustible first gas stream. According to the method an oxidizable coating material is accelerated, heated by the flame and deposited on the surface, and the interior space is subjected to a scavenging air flow. The invention provides for the surface to be coated to be subjected also to a second gas stream containing an inert gas, especially nitrogen, which flows substantially parallel to the surface to be coated.
