Said guide rail (22) has a lubricant coating at least in the area of the guiding surfaces (14a-c, 24a, b), consisting of at least one layer (3, 4). According to the method for producing a guide rail of this type, a lubricant layer is continuously applied to a metal strip, the coated strip is cut to the required length and width and the cut sections of strip are deformed.
