Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to a CO2 laser with a gold-comprising catalyst applied substantially over the entire length of the excitation cavity. The CO2 laser contains a gas comprising carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. According to the invention, the molar ratio of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide is at least 0.3. This is shown to shorten the starting-up time of the laser.
