FUEL TABLET COMPRISING A LAYERED STRUCTURE

The invention relates to a fuel tablet (1) which is inserted into a cladding tube (2) as nuclear fuel of a nuclear facility. Said fuel tablet comprises an increased concentration of fissionable material in the upper and lower areas thereof. Diminished thermal output of the fuel is equalized on the abutting surfaces of the fuel tablets (1) due to cavities situated on said abutting surfaces of stacked fuel tablets (1) arranged in the cladding tube (2). The thermal output is equalized such that the temperature of the cladding tube (2) in the area, in which it comprises fuel, is constant over the entire length of this area, thus forming no cold points in the cladding tube in the vicinity of the abutting surfaces of the fuel tablets (1). A reduction in the ductility of the cladding tube material and an increase in the susceptibility to corrosion in the area of the abutting surfaces of the fuel tables are thus prevented.
