INTERMEDULLARY NAIL

The invention relates to an intermedullary nail with screws that enable the nail to be secured in the bone. The inventive nail is provided with several recesses into which the screws can be inserted and can be joined to a holder on the proximal end for the insertion or extraction of the nail, whereby an outer and/or inner thread is provided on the proximal end of the intermedullary nail for securing to said holder. An indentation (3, 10) is provided on the outermost proximal end and arranged perpendicular to the axis of said intermedullary nail. A cap (4) with a matching thread (6) can be screwed onto the thread (2) of said proximal end. The cap has a through hole (5) which can be aligned with the indentation (3) near to the bottom of said cap and another screw can be inserted into said through hole.
