The heat exchange chamber (86) is defined by guides (82, 84) closely surrounding the heat exchange elements (88) and extending downward from a location at an upper portion of the reservoir chamber, the heat exchange chamber (86) having an upper inlet (80) open to the venous blood inlet and a lower outlet (92) open to the reservoir chamber so that blood from the venous blood inlet must flow through the heat exchange chamber before reaching the reservoir chamber. A blood outlet (118) is provided in a lower portion of the reservoir chamber. |
