Zusammenfassung: | The socket consists of a metal supporting cup (1) designed to be fitted into the cotyloid cavity of the iliac bone, and a plastic or ceramic friction insert (2) to receive the head of the femoral component of the prosthesis. The base of the cup's outer surface has a series of machined teeth (7) in its meridianal zone and three sets of radially projecting fins (10) in the same zone but longer than the teeth. The two lower sets of fins are set at an angle of 140 degrees from one another and 120 degrees from the third set. The fins have curved outer edges which taper to give them a sharpened effect which facilitates penetration and fixing. The cup also has five holes (3) for fixing screws (4). |
