The steering system (1) incorporates an additional mass (38), which is in active connection with the steering column. During a frontal collision, the additional mass applies a torque about the pivot axis, generated by inertia forces (F1). This compensates at least partially for an opposite erection momentum generated by inertia forces (F2) of the steering column and the steering wheel (4). |
