Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to reactively stable catalysts, to the preparation thereof, and to reaction processes using these catalysts. These stable catalysts are useful in hydrogenation reactions, in particular, hydrogenation of phenols to yield the corresponding cyclohexanone. A process for forming a supported palladium catalyst wherein said support material is metal-doped by impregnating the support material with a group IA or IIA metal bicarbonate solution; drying the bicarbonate impregnated support material and calcining the bicarbonate-treated support material to form a group IA or IIA metal-doped support material.
