Zusammenfassung:	A nonwoven fabric having an average breaking length in each of the machine and the transverse directions at 5 % elongation of 4.0 km or longer and an air permeability of 0.2 to 10.0 cc/cm .scc; and a semipermeable-membrane support comprising the nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric can be produced by using polyester-based fibers preferably having a birefringence ( DELTA n) of 0.170 or higher and a heat contraction stress at 200 DEG C of 0.10 to 0.60 g/d and heat-fusible binder fibers to form a web and hot-pressing it.
