Calender

The calender assembly to process webs with a residual moisture content, such as paper, has a blower (13) to deliver dry air into the defined space (11) formed between the side columns, the stack of calender rollers and the web. The temp. of the blown air is set by a heater. At least one moisture sensor (15) and/or a temp. sensor (16) is within the defined space (11). The sensor signals are processed (14) to set the blown air data to prevent air saturation within the space (11), and generate control signals for the air blowing system, to maintain the air within the space (11) close to the saturation point. A unit to adjust the blown air volume. is at the blower (13), and an adjustment unit at the blower (13) sets the blown air temp.
