Container for the final storage of spent fuel elements from nuclear power plants

A terminal container for used nuclear fuel elements has a secondary lid welded to the first lid of a lid arrangement to prevent the leakage of gaseous substances. Terminal container (1) for used nuclear fuel elements comprises a jacket (2), base (3), lid arrangement (4) and inner chamber (5) for receiving fuel rods (6). The lid (4) has a primary lid (7) secured in the jacket (2). A dewatering pipe (17) is provided stretching from the upper side of the base to the upper side of the primary lid. The lid arrangement has a secondary lid (9) above the primary lid (7). The secondary lid is welded to the jacket.
