Zusammenfassung:	A fingerprint recognition system intended primarily, but not exclusively, for mobile phones in which a fingerprint recognition means recognises the separate fingers and thumbs of a user and determines a function of the phone which has been previously associated with that recognised finger/thumb of the user. The determined function is then carried out by the phone. The automatic dialling of a predefined telephone number may be associated with each finger/thumb of the user, or other functions such as the selected ring tone may be associates with certain fingers/thumbs. A particular finger/thumb may have different functions associated with it depending the mode of operation of the phone.
