Zusammenfassung:	A vehicle occupant restraint (12) includes a length of seat belt webbing (16) extensible about a vehicle occupant and a member (140) to control the location of the seat belt webbing (16) in a vehicle. The member (140) includes a metal base portion (142) and a material layer (160) on the metal base portion (142) which converts vibration of the member (140) into heat by shearing action in the material layer (160), thereby to damp at least a portion of audible noise generated by the member (140).
