Zusammenfassung:	The table has a stack carrying plate for carrying a stack of sheets which can be raised or lowered by a drive which is stopped if an object is present in the region to be traversed by the plate. Several sensors arranged in the region around the plate can detect the presence of an object in the monitored region to be traversed by the plate and generate a signal when an object is detected. The signal is used to stop the drive.
