Zusammenfassung:	The vehicle steering wheel shaft (1) is protected by a casing (2) which is shaped to form a housing (3) for a coder/sensor assembly. The housing (3) has a lid (4) which supports the frame (9) of the coder/sensor assembly via an elastic sole (8). A rotating sleeve (13) is mounted on the assembly frame (9) using ball races (14a,b,c). The sleeve (13) carries a coder (15) and is driven from a steering wheel shaft pinion (17) through teeth (16,18). The sensor (10) is fixed to the assembly frame (9) adjacent to the coder (15) and has electrical connections (11).
