Zusammenfassung:In the presence of hydrocarbons the catalytic converter acts as a nitrogen oxide reducing catalyser (4) whereby the sensor downstream of the catalyser is a hydrocarbon sensor (10) attached to the dosing control unit as dosing regulator (7). The hydrocarbon sensor is used as an actual value sensor, the dosing control unit as a dosing regulator, and the fuel supply device (5) as a setting member and the nitrogen oxide reducing catalyser as control path form one closed control circuit. Diesel fuel is added according to a recorded regulating algorithm as the reducing agent when the catalytic converter is hot in controlled amount to reduce the nitrogen oxides in dependence on the residual concentration of hydrocarbon measured after the catalytic converter.
